Blue Sky Project is proud to announce that our School In A Box supplies leave Australia today bound for a remote village outside Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
A volunteer will be accompanying the supplies to Cambodia and spending a number of months there teaching in schools and assisting us in establishing operations in the country.
Cambodia is a country located in the southern portion of the Indochina Peninsula bordering Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and the Gulf of Thailand.
Although Cambodia is rich in natural resources, countless years of brutal war and conflict have left it one of the world’s poorest.
With over 50% of the population under 22 years of age, the pressures of a fast growing population have strained limited funding and resources available.
Those in the most direst poverty are isolated and live in remote villages, far from basic social services and facilities. Sometimes 5km from the nearest sealed road.
Due to a lack of education and skills training, Cambodians have limited or no employment opportunities and capabilities.
Blue Sky Project are excited and confident in facing the challenges delivering its programs throughout Cambodia.
